BlackBerry Storm 9530 se comercializa en México, USA y Canadá tanto para redes GSM / UMTS, como para CDMA, tiene su equivalente en España, Argentina y otros países bajo el nombre de BlackBerry Storm 9500, ambos han sido acompañados con una versión renovada que añade Wi-Fi y más capacidad de memoria y almacenaje, son el BlackBerry Storm2 9550 para América del Norte y el BlackBerry Storm2 9520 para los demás países
Es GSM cuatribanda, UMTS 2100 MHz y CDMA banda dual 800 / 1900 MHz. Con pantalla táctil capacitiva de 3.25 pulgadas, cámara de 3.2 megapixels con flash, autoenfoque y grabación de vídeo. Procesador Scorpion de 528 MHz en un encapsulado Qualcomm Snapdragon junto con una GPU Adreno 130, con 128 de RAM y 192 de ROM mas una microSD de 1GB que viene incluida y ranura de expansión de hasta 16GB. Conectividad Bluetooth, USB y conector audio de 3.5 mm, no tiene Wi-Fi, pero si lo tendrá su siguiente versión el Storm2 9550. Las versiones 9500 y 9520 al salir con posterioridad ya se lanzaron con Wi-Fi.
